Alpha Updates
Now that we’ve nailed down our win condition, we’ve added a hype system to accumulate with the player’s Epic Plays, such as close dodges, enemy hits, and enemy enemy. We also have a rudimentary dialogue system, and hope to start showing conversations with the game’s commentator soon. We’ve also added taunting and modifying enemy behaviors based on anger. Enemy patrolling is still funky due to difficulties with Unity’s NavMesh system, and is one of our highest priorities heading into playtesting.
TRICKFOOLERY! now has bright and colorful toon shaders, finally evoking the comic book aesthetic we’ve been aiming for. Enemy animations are beginning to be implemented, and the alien starting to come to life. Now that we have most of the rudimentary core gameplay down, we’re beginning to shift towards putting together the effects and UI that will tie the game together.

Along with animations, we’re beginning to implement sound effects such as enemy aggro and attacks. The audio team is composing absolute bangers for the main menu and the combat arena that we hope to showcase in our beta build - so stay tuned!
